Choosing the right wedding style is just one of the things that help make the perfect wedding. The following is a list of tips to ensure everything goes smoothly so that you look and feel your absolute best on your wedding day.

Plan Ahead

This is all about deciding on the style you are looking for. Looking through magazines and not just bridal ones. The glossy bridal shoots are often impractical on a wedding day they are over the top as they are designed for the studio and photo shot.

Talk to your hairdresser and makeup artist - they will be able to suggest style’s that would suit you.

Basic Hair and Skin care

This comes down the using the right product for you. Your stylist will be able to advise you on a care regime, which best suits your individual needs.

Have regular cuts every 6 weeks with treatments. We would normally recommend that you have your hair cut and coloured at least one week before the wedding to allow your hair to settle. Having regular facials leading up to the wedding is a great idea as well, this will get your skin looking fresh and smooth, giving you a better chance of that flawless makeup look. Allow 2 weeks between your last beauty treatment and the wedding to give any post-facial breakouts or redness time to disappear.

What hairstyle to choose?

This all depends on your personal preference, but you also need to consider:

• The time of the ceremony is it day or night?
• Is the ceremony inside or outside?

Some guidelines when choosing a style are:

All Up: This look is very glamorous and stylish, suitable for both day and evening ceremonies.

Half up/down: This is a romantic look, very young and youthful. Normally a day style but does transform well to eveningwear.

All down: The look is romantic and modern. This will depend on the weather for outdoor weddings.

What Makeup style to choose?

Again this all depends on your preferences and the style of the wedding. A professional makeup artist can work wonders, using subtle shading and highlighting techniques they can enhance your natural beauty while minimizing any flaws.

Accessories

There are many different types of hair accessories available today.

• Tiaras, Veils, hair jewels and flowers.
• Fresh flowers in the hair of the bride, bridesmaids or flower girl are the perfect finishing touch to complete the ‘bridal look’. There are many different options available using fresh flowers;
• Have some flowers from your bouquet individually wired and allow your hair stylist to position these throughout your hairstyle where best suited.

Flower Girls

Hair circlets and half circlets are the traditional choice of floral headwear for flower girls.

The Trial

At the trial you should talk about the dress and the image that you are after. Have pictures that you have found in magazines to help your stylist design the style for you.

Who goes first?

We always start with mother of bride and any other relative’s who are booked in, then the bridesmaids then the bride. The bride should be done last or near to last to make sure that she looks fresh. Last but not least the flower girls, only because of their age. Flower girls hair tends to be fine and wispy, and often does not hold styles well, plus they sometimes get impatient!

On the day

The day of the wedding has arrived and you have to keep to a schedule. Try to wash your hair the night before, rather than on the day. You should allow approximately 45 minutes per person for each hair and makeup, but keep in mind by having the two separate stylists on the day, someone will be having their hair done while another has their makeup.

Also, try to make sure that there are no errands left to do. Having people rushing in and out is very frustrating, and may cause your party to run behind schedule. Also try to limit the amount of people in your room to the bridal party, as having too many people around can cause you to feel a little panicky, and besides you want to make a grand entrance so the less amount of people that see you before hand the better.

The most important thing is that you feel comfortable with the person who is doing your hair. Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life so you have to start it being relaxed and well prepared.
